Shape Data: Index NFTs, Creators, and Gasback

Index Shape's NFT mints, creator collections, and Gasback flows in one pipeline, delivered to your own database. Real-time and complete historical data, no node to run.

Shape calls itself the network for onchain objects: an Ethereum Layer 2 for NFTs, built on the OP Stack and part of the Optimism Superchain, with ETH for gas. Its signature mechanic is Gasback, which returns network value to the builders and contract deployers whose collections drive the activity, turning a creator-forward chain into a place where minting and curating pay back. You can see how the team frames it at shape.network.

That creator economy is the data problem. Shape is an EVM chain where NFT mints, collection deployments, secondary trades, and Gasback distributions emit contract events, token transfers, and decoded calls block after block. Indexing Co covers Shape in a single pipeline, decodes the raw chain into the shape you want, and delivers it to your own PostgreSQL, warehouse, or webhook. Real-time and full history, with no node to operate.

Why Shape data is hard

Mints, Collections, and Curators Shape is an NFT-first chain, so its activity is dominated by collection deployments, mint events, and the reputation that collectors build by what they hold and how they engage. Reconstructing a creator's full history means catching every collection contract as it ships and every ERC-721 and ERC-1155 mint and transfer against it, not just sampling a single collection's current state.
Gasback Distributions Gasback returns network value to the builders and contract deployers behind the activity, which means a stream of accrual and claim events that attribute gas value back to specific addresses. Tracking who earned what, and when it was claimed, requires decoding the Gasback contracts and joining them to the collections that generated the volume.
OP Stack and Superchain Specifics Shape is an OP Stack rollup that batches transactions and posts data back to Ethereum L1. Sequencer ordering, L1-to-L2 deposits, and the deposit and withdrawal lifecycle all add structure that a naive EVM scraper misses. You want history that reflects how the rollup actually settles, with ETH as the gas asset throughout.
Your Own DB, Not a Hosted API Generic RPC endpoints and hosted query APIs leave you rate-limited and renting someone else's schema. Powering a marketplace, a creator dashboard, or Gasback analytics on Shape means owning the data in your own store, shaped the way your product queries it.

What Indexing Co delivers for Shape

The DIY Path

Stand up and maintain the whole stack yourself.

  • Run a Shape archive node or wire up a third-party RPC.
  • Fetch and decode logs, traces, and receipts against the right ABIs.
  • Track proxy upgrades and per-collection event schemas by hand.
  • Build backfill, reorg handling, and real-time delivery from scratch.
Indexing Co

One pipeline sources, decodes, and delivers Shape to your store.

  • Shape contract events, token transfers, and decoded txs in a single pipeline.
  • Decoded data, shaped by your JavaScript transform.
  • Lands in your PostgreSQL, BigQuery, warehouse, or webhook.
  • Real-time delivery plus complete backfilled history. No node, no RPC babysitting.

What you can index

EVM data type On Shape, for example
Contract events and logs Collection deployments, mint events, Gasback claims
Token transfers (ERC-721, ERC-1155) NFT mints, secondary sales, ETH gas movements
Decoded transactions and traces Creator collection calls and smart-account user operations
Protocol and account state Gasback accruals per deployer, collection ownership and supply

A transform, not a subgraph

You write the transform in JavaScript, not AssemblyScript, and change it without re-indexing from block zero. Indexing Co runs your function over each block server-side: decode the logs you care about and return rows for your destination.

// Indexing Co transform: reshape each block into rows for your database
function transform(block) {
  const results = [];
  const signatures = [
    'event Transfer(address indexed from, address indexed to, uint256 value)'
  ];

  for (const tx of block.transactions || []) {
    for (const log of tx.receipt?.logs || []) {
      const event = utils.evmDecodeLogWithMetadata(log, signatures);
      if (!event) continue;
      results.push({
        chain: block._network,
        block: Number(block.number),
        tx_hash: tx.hash,
        contract_address: log.address?.toLowerCase(),
        from: event.decoded.from,
        to: event.decoded.to,
        value: event.decoded.value,
      });
    }
  }
  return results;
}

Shape with Indexing Co

Run it yourself if

You want full control of node infrastructure and have the team to operate a Shape archive node, decode every collection and Gasback ABI, and build backfill and reorg handling in-house.

Use Indexing Co if

You want Shape NFT mints, collections, and Gasback distributions delivered to your own database, with real-time plus complete history and no infrastructure to run.

FAQ

Do I need to run a Shape node?

No. Indexing Co sources Shape blocks, logs, and traces for you, including full historical data, so you never operate an archive node or babysit an RPC endpoint.

Can I index NFT mints and collections on Shape?

Yes. Point a pipeline at any collection contract or the registry that deploys them, and we decode mints, transfers, and ownership against the right ERC-721 and ERC-1155 ABIs so you can reconstruct each creator's full history.

Can I track Gasback earnings and claims?

Yes. Because the pipeline decodes any contract you target, you can capture Gasback accrual and claim events and join them to the collections that generated the activity, attributing returned value to the right deployers in your own schema.

Does Indexing Co handle Shape reorgs and proxy upgrades?

Yes. The pipeline accounts for chain reorganizations and tracks proxy implementation changes so your decoded data stays correct as contracts upgrade.

Can I get complete historical Shape data?

Yes. We backfill from your chosen start block and merge it with real-time data, so your Shape dataset is gap-free from genesis forward if you want it.
